GPDR in full effect!

This is a different blog. It has to do with the new GDPR law that came to be, effective 25th of May 2018 and what the owner of this blog (Nick Sigma) does to protect your personal data.

Enter GDPR

What is GDPR, you ask?
In plain English it is an extension of the previous Data Protection Act, introduced in Europe to protect sensitive data (such as your name, email etc) on the web.
You can read more about it here:
I created this entry to inform my readers how their information is used when subscribing to my newsletter. It is also a way to inform my existing subscribers that if they do not wish to continue receiving this email, they can contact me via the Contact Page and their email and personal data will be removed.

Privacy Policy

I already have an extensive Privacy Policy which has been updated with the extra spicy details of GDPR for the readers’ protection and convenience.
First of all, this is a private and FREE blog. No services or products are sold here at this point of time. You can learn more about what I do in my About Me Page.

Comments

For comments, I use the Discus plug in (as well as the WordPress native plugin). You can view their privacy policy here. From what I know, you are able to remove your account from Disqus at any time, but Disqus does not delete your comments from my website. So if you have such comments, drop me an email via the contact page and I will find then in the WordPress Database and remove them for you by searching for your username and email.

Newsletter and subscriptions

For my newsletter, I use a WordPress plugin. By subscribing to my newsletter  you agree to allow me to store your email in WordPress so that you can informed on time about new blog entries. I furthermore state that these emails are not sold or given to any 3rd party. I only use the emails for my newsletter/new blog notification as stated above. You can unsubscribe at any time by sending me a message via the contact page, and I will make certain to delete your data from my dashboard in WordPress.
Basically that’s it. A quick and easy way to inform my subscribers and readers of this blog that their data is secure and handled with the utmost care in accordance with the new GDPR law. If you have any further questions or requests, feel free to reach out to me via the Contact Page.
