Every person has a morning routine. They get up, have breakfast and go to work. I did the same thing for years until I discovered a better breakfast to keep me energized and make it through another day.
I tend to make 3 different kinds of shakes, depending on the day of the week. In this article you will learn how to make the healthiest protein shake ever which will help you lose fat and gain muscle while still staying healthy. I usually drink this on a weekday that has a passive workout (Yoga, Tai chi or Chi Kung).
Depending on the season and what kind of diet I am following, I might add more or less fat to my shake. Fat is necessary for hormone optimization as it supports cholesterol production which is the mother of all hormones (testosterone for men and progesterone for women).
Ingredients
- 2.5 scoops of whey unflavored protein (35gr protein)
- twist of black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon turmeric
- ¼ teaspoon ginger
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
- 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
- a bit of raw organic honey or raw maple syrup
What does each one of them do?
The higher protein content will help you rebuild muscle. If you are vegan or if you are on a rotation diet you can also use equal amounts of rice protein with pea protein or rice + hemp protein instead (1 scoop rice protein and 1 scoop of the other protein).
Cocoa powder will give you more focus and energy as you start your day and will support dopamine production. It will also add that chocolate flavor we all love.
Ginger helps with digestion and has strong anti-inflammatory benefits.
Turmeric is also anti-inflammatory but it also helps with removing estrogen from the body.
Cinnamon is there for glucose optimization purposes.
Black pepper is there to activate all the above spices and enhance their benefits.
How to make this shake:
Just mix everything together in a mixer or shaker. That’s it!
The protein shake is easy to consume as it takes me about 2-4 minutes to drink. It has a nice, milky flavor where you can feel the spices work and depending on my choice of sweetener (maple syrup or honey), it can be more on the sweet or the bitter side.
